Alkagesta has been featured in Ship & Bunker and Ship.energy following the addition of EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) allowances to the company’s carbon trading offering.

Both publications reported on the development, with Ship.energy additionally noting that Alkagesta’s offering will include the expanded ETS2, which comes into effect in 2028. The articles note that the EU ETS, in place since 2005 and extended to shipping in January 2024, is relevant to Alkagesta given the scheme’s reach beyond the European Union and the company’s global trading activities across energy, fuels, fertilizers, and related commodity markets.

Anthony Guida, Biofuels Trading Desk Lead at Alkagesta, is quoted across both publications: “Trading EU ETS allowances alongside our CORSIA-eligible SAF and biofuels business means we can support clients across a much wider set of carbon obligations from one desk. As ETS2 brings smaller businesses into scope and ReFuelEU blending requirements ramp up, having a single trading partner across allowances, credits and physical fuel supply is becoming increasingly valuable, and we’re well placed to support that shift.”
