Alkagesta participated in APPEC 2026, S&P Global Energy’s flagship oil conference and Asia’s premier gathering for the global oil and commodities community. The event brought together 1,200 senior leaders from 55 countries to examine the outlook for Asia-Pacific oil markets, global supply dynamics, and the energy transition.

Alkagesta was represented by Orkhan Rustamov, CEO, alongside members of the Operations, Business Development, and Finance Functions, who engaged with senior market participants across the four-day programme.

Among the topics addressed during the conference were:

• Strategic priorities for oil market stability amid ongoing geopolitical disruption

• Global oil and refining balances to 2027, including supply elasticity, product cracks, and market dislocation

• Asia’s evolving crude supply map — optionality, reliability, and competition among suppliers

• Trade flow resets — what has changed structurally, what remains reversible, and what comes next

• Strategic crude selection in an increasingly multipolar world

• The global biofuel landscape and the pathway for scaling sustainable aviation fuel through connected demand, supply, and policy frameworks

Market observations from the conference reflected the current environment across key commodity segments. Supply disruptions and their downstream implications remained the dominant theme, with diverging views among participants on how ongoing escalations would affect demand. Gasoline and diesel markets remained tight, keeping refining margins strong and run rates elevated. The naphtha market showed signs of rebalancing as higher refinery production and additional arbitrage cargoes from Europe and the United States came into play, while petrochemical demand faced potential pressure from expensive feedstock costs and the broader impact of elevated flat prices on downstream consumption.

For Alkagesta, participation in APPEC 2026 reinforced the importance of direct market engagement and intelligence at the highest level, as the company continues to expand its presence across Asian energy markets and global commodity trade flows.
