Prague | 20–22 October 2026

Alkagesta participated in the Argus Fertilizer Europe Conference 2026 in Prague from 20 to 22 October, with Vusal Muradov, Fertilizer Desk Lead, and Tural Sabirzade, Fertilizer Trader, representing the company across the three-day programme.

The conference, themed around Carbon Borders and Trade, brought together producers, traders, importers, and policymakers to examine the regulatory and market forces reshaping Europe’s fertilizer industry. The opening day focused on the evolving regulatory landscape — covering the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, EU ETS, and tariff reforms — and their implications for fertilizer pricing, trade flows, and supply chain planning.

Day one of the main conference addressed European competitiveness in the current geopolitical environment, with sessions examining the structural impact of supply disruptions, energy price volatility, and shifting sourcing patterns on fertilizer markets. Shipping, supply chain resilience, and the natural gas outlook also featured prominently — themes directly relevant to the operational environment in which fertilizer traders are navigating today.

Day two broadened the discussion to include the growing role of specialty and bio-organic fertilizers, end-user perspectives on food security and farm economics, and the outlook for clean ammonia as a potential response to energy and geopolitical risk. The conference concluded with an agricultural market update examining the downstream impact of the Middle East conflict on planting seasons and yields — a dynamic that has intersected with broader supply pressures across global energy and commodity markets throughout 2026.

For Alkagesta, participation in the Argus Fertilizer Europe Conference provided a valuable forum for engaging with the producers, traders, and policymakers shaping the direction of European fertilizer markets — and for deepening the relationships that underpin the company’s fertilizer trading activities across the region.
