Alkagesta participated in the Italian Ferry Summit 2026, held in Naples — the most anticipated conference in the Italian maritime sector. The event brought together the heads of all major Italian shipping companies and representatives of port terminals operating across the Motorways of the Sea network. The company was represented by Anthony Guida, Biofuels Trading Desk Lead.

The summit opened with an address by Eliseo Cuccaro of the Central Tyrrhenian Sea Port Authority and was structured across two panel sessions, concluding with a high-profile interview with Emanuele Grimaldi of the Grimaldi Group.

The first panel, “Towards the Ferries of the Future,” focused on the energy transition in the ro-ro and passenger ferry segment — covering alternative maritime fuels including LNG, bio-LNG, methanol, ammonia, and hydrogen, as well as alignment with the EU’s Fit for 55 package, the maritime ETS, and FuelEU Maritime. The second panel, “Green Ports and Smart Ships: The Double Transition,” addressed port electrification, cold ironing, terminal digitalisation, and the integration of maritime and rail corridors within the Motorways of the Sea framework.

Broader discussions across the summit covered fleet renewal strategies, new Mediterranean route development, and the evolving role of trade finance and human capital in the sector.

For Alkagesta, the event provided a meaningful opportunity to engage with the Italian maritime and energy transition ecosystem — an area directly relevant to the company’s active biofuels operations across Europe.

Participation in key industry events remains a central component of Alkagesta’s strategy to maintain active dialogue with market participants across energy, logistics, and trade.
