The Alkagesta team has wrapped up its participation at SIBCON 2026 in Singapore, concluding a week of industry sessions, meetings, and networking that brought together key players from across the global shipping and marine fuels community.

Alkagesta was represented at the conference by Orkhan Rustamov, Founder and Chief Executive Officer; Tural Huseynov, Managing Director, Investments and Asset Management; Agshin Bakirzade, Commodity Trading Director, APAC; Mithat Çiftçioğlu, Marine Fuels Distribution Director; and Afiq Salim, Senior Marine Fuel Trader.

Across the conference, sessions examined the themes shaping the near and long-term future of the sector. The industry’s transition toward a multi-fuel future featured prominently — with discussions covering the growing role of biofuels, methanol, and LNG as complements to conventional fuels across different vessel types and trade routes. For Alkagesta — a company actively expanding sustainable fuels capabilities including a five-year UCO feedstock offtake agreement and a multi-year biofuel storage agreement at Pantank in Antwerp — the conversations reflected a direction of travel already underway across the trading platform at Alkagesta.

Supply security ran as a consistent thread throughout the week, with fuel diversification widely discussed as a practical risk management tool — reducing dependence on any single supply source and providing operators with greater resilience in a market shaped in part by persistent supply pressures across global energy markets.

Sessions also addressed the challenge of moving decarbonisation efforts from pilot programmes to commercial scale — with industry leaders pointing to regulatory clarity, safety frameworks, and access to financing as the key enablers of that transition.

Alongside the conference programme, the week provided an opportunity to connect with shipowners, bunker traders, existing customers and suppliers, and counterparts from across the industry — reinforcing long-standing relationships and exploring new areas for collaboration across the APAC region.
