Alkagesta has initiated proceedings against the Maltese Herald in response to defamatory and libellous articles they have published about the company over the past year.
The complaint has been filed in Malta’s Court of Magistrates. Please find a statement on behalf of Alkagesta below.
Statement
Alkagesta has today initiated legal proceedings against the Maltese Herald for repeated defamation of the company. For nearly a year, the Maltese Herald has made and repeated entirely false, damaging and unevidenced statements about the company. It has continued to do so despite multiple attempts to engage with them and highlight the falsehoods in their reporting.
This is not a decision Alkagesta has taken lightly. Despite several requests for engagement and presentation of the facts, the Maltese Herald did not retract and correct the offending articles and references. We remain open to resolving this matter amicably should the publication offer an apology and retract the articles in questions, which serve no legitimate purpose other than to cause unjustified commercial harm.
Without that and given how these false allegations have been mirrored by pay-to-play sites, we are left with no alternative but to initiate proceedings. We are confident in the strength of our case and that the facts vindicate our position.
Alkagesta will not be making any further comment on these proceedings until the proper legal process has been allowed to run its course.
