Istanbul, Türkiye | 17–18 September 2026

Alkagesta participated in the Argus Fertilizer Caspian, Black Sea and Eastern European Markets Conference 2026, held in Istanbul — the key annual gathering for fertilizer traders, producers, and trade service providers operating across the global fertilizer value chain. Organised by Argus Media, the conference brought together over 450 attendees from more than 250 companies across 45 countries, with a focus on emerging export markets, shifting trade flows, and new strategies for cooperation across the Caspian region, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia.

Alkagesta was represented by Vusal Muradov, Fertilizer Desk Lead, alongside Tural Sabirzade Fertilizer Trader and Mustafa Yigit Shen from the Operations Function, who engaged with traders, producers, logistics providers, and market intelligence specialists across the two-day programme.

Key themes addressed during the conference included:

  • The outlook for the global fertilizer market — trade flows, pricing dynamics, and the impact of ongoing supply chain disruption
  • The implications of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) for imported fertilizers and competitiveness across European markets
  • Türkiye’s growing role as a regional fertilizer hub and the opportunities it presents for traders operating across the wider region
  • Central Asian fertilizer markets — domestic demand, export opportunities, and the expanding role of regional suppliers in serving European and global demand
  • Fertilizer logistics and infrastructure across key trade corridors, including route developments, terminal capacity, and freight trends shaping delivery efficiency

The conference took place against the backdrop of a global fertilizer market navigating one of its most complex periods in recent memory. Disruption to key shipping corridors has exposed the fragility of supply chains optimised for efficiency at the expense of resilience, and the episode reinforced a broader market reality: restoring physical supply flows is a process, not an event.

Alkagesta’s fertilizer desk trades across a broad range of nitrogen, phosphate, and specialty fertilizer products, sourcing from reliable global origins and matching supply streams with markets where agricultural fundamentals are strongest, with a focus on building long-term supply partnerships across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and key emerging agricultural markets.

Alkagesta also recently gained access to the Argus Open Markets window for European Biodiesel, HVO and UCO — a development that reflects the company’s growing participation in Argus price assessment processes across multiple commodity segments.
