Romania continues to advance its role in Europe’s energy transition with Alkagesta, a Malta-headquartered trading house operating in more than 40 countries. Having maintained a longstanding presence in Romania, the company has recently broadened its operations to include sustainable biodiesel trading.
The firm has already completed several pilot sales of EN 14214 (FAME 01) biodiesel, fully aligned with EU standards and Romanian market requirements. This move underscores both Alkagesta’s global growth strategy in Biofuels and Romania’s potential as a key player in Europe’s renewable energy supply chain.
Alkagesta is registered under the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) system, ensuring that its biofuel operations meet strict criteria of transparency, traceability, and sustainability. All trading activities comply with the EU Renewable Energy Directive (RED III), a crucial legislative framework supporting the bloc’s climate ambitions.
“Romania has the resources and position to become a regional hub for green energy. By entering this market, we aim not only to provide cleaner fuel but also to strengthen Romania’s role in Europe’s energy transition,” – Alkagesta’s CEO Orkhan Rustamov noted.
