Belgrade, Serbia | 27–29 September 2026

The steel trading arm of Alkagesta, Alkavex, participated in the SteelOrbis Fall 2026 Conference & 95th IREPAS Meeting at the Metropol Palace Belgrade — one of the world’s leading international steel conferences, bringing together steel producers, traders, raw material suppliers, and industry professionals from across the global long steel supply chain.

Alkavex was represented by Nijat Osmanlı, Deputy CEO, who engaged with key market participants across the three-day programme.

Committee findings and discussions reflected the complex conditions shaping global steel markets:

  • The Producers Committee highlighted that regional challenges and energy costs continue to pressure mills, though domestic demand remains resilient
  • The Traders Committee noted that trade barriers, tariffs, and freight risks are pushing steel trade to become increasingly regional
  • Raw material suppliers flagged that rising energy, financing, and freight costs — alongside surging coking coal prices — are straining raw material flows
  • CBAM discussions emphasised that steel suppliers should prepare early for EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism verification and reporting requirements

For Alkavex, participation in the SteelOrbis & IREPAS Conference provided direct engagement with key players across the international long steel market and an opportunity to strengthen relationships with producers and counterparties operating across the global steel supply chain.
