Sliema, Malta, 27 November 2025

On 27 November 2025, Alkagesta welcomed the Mr. Godwin Xerri, Chairman of the Malta Maritime Forum (MMF) to our Sliema office. Mr. Xerri met with our CEO, Mr Orkhan Rustamov, and Malta Operations Manager, Mr Darren Lee Axisa.

During the meeting, we provided an overview of Alkagesta’s activities in Malta and across our network of 17 offices and representations worldwide. The discussion focused on Alkagesta’s contribution to Malta’s maritime and energy ecosystem through compliant fuel supply, storage, and transshipment operations — strengthening Malta’s position as a connected and reliable Mediterranean hub.

A central part of the exchange explored Malta’s national objective to expand the availability of cleaner marine fuels. Alkagesta’s operational expertise and international reach were highlighted as potential contributors to this strategic priority. The conversation also covered future workforce needs, with Alkagesta’s continued expansion expected to create highly skilled roles in operations, logistics, trade finance, derivatives, risk analysis, financial control, compliance, legal services, and technical maritime support.

These developments support Malta’s long-term ambition to strengthen its talent base and enhance competitiveness within the maritime sector.

We thank Mr. Godwin Xerri for the visit and for the constructive and forward-looking exchange, and we look forward to continued collaboration on initiatives that support the growth of Malta’s maritime and energy landscape.
