In 2024, we strengthened the foundations of our sustainability journey by deepening our environmental and social commitments. This year marked a significant milestone as we completed our Scope 1 emissions calculation—demonstrating our dedication to transparency, accountability, and measurable progress. We also advanced our sustainable trading initiatives by establishing a dedicated biofuels trading desk, ensuring that our continued growth aligns with responsible, ethical, and environmentally conscious business practices.
Governance and Ethics
Alkagesta operates under a robust governance structure led by its Board of Directors, Executive Board, and specialized committees for Audit, Risk, Finance&Invesment, Trading&Business Development, and ESG & Compliance.
In 2024, the company strengthened compliance oversight through advanced tools such as World-Check, SeaSearcher, and PurpleTrac, ensuring transparent and responsible operations.
Key achievements include:
• 285 vessel and 131 counterpart KYC screenings
• 100% ethics and compliance training completion
• Introduction of an anonymous ethics reporting system
• Quarterly audits and enhanced whistleblower protection policies

Social Responsibility
People are at the heart of Alkagesta’s success. In 2024, the company maintained zero human rights infringements and advanced diversity, equity, and inclusion across all offices.
Strategic partnerships with universities expanded career pathways for students, while cultural sponsorships such as the Crescendo Theatre in Geneva strengthened community engagement.
Employee well-being was prioritized inspired by the Be Well, Work Well program and continuous learning initiatives supported by Harvard, MIT, and Onyx training collaborations.

Environmental Stewardship
Alkagesta intensified its environmental commitment by conducting its first Scope 1 GHG emissions assessment (8,178 tCO₂e) and expanding its Used Cooking Oil (UCO) recycling operations by 39%, producing 1.58 million kg of sustainable feedstock.
The launch of the Biofuels Trading Desk and ISCC EU certification position Alkagesta as a leader in low-carbon energy and circular economy solutions.
Ongoing initiatives include carbon tracking, sustainable sourcing, and eliminating single-use plastics across operations.
